ABOUT US

Foundation for Road Traffic Safety (FRTS) was incorporated in Nigeria on the 7th of July, 2005 as a non-governmental, nonprofit and non political organization.

It was established to promote the study and enhance the knowledge of road users at all levels towards the development or creation of traffic safety culture.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is tagged “operation rescue the system not the victim” which is geared toward addressing the deficiency and extremely low level of road users education and training with a view to making Nigerian roads safer for all.

OUR VISION

The key note of our vision is in the creation of a new environment where:

  • All road users can travel to any of their choice location without the fear of death or injuries occasioned by crashes as a result of avoidable collisions.
  • All road users are made to take full responsibility for the effect their transport choices have on other road users.
  • An environmentally sustainable transport system which practice equity and accessibility to all road users, permitting no disadvantages to those who choose not to own or drive a car.
  • Our society will not take driving as a license to kill and call it an Accident.
OUR GOAL

Our goal is to change road users’ behaviors which will be a catalyst for achieving zero crashes or injuries by the year 2030 through relevant education, training, campaign and advocacy.

GLOBAL ROAD SAFETY CRISIS

FRTS NIG. RECOMMENDS THE WAYFORWARD

This special road safety alert highlights why auto crashes persist globally.

“We’ve observed that the concept of auto -motion remains largely unknown and untaught by the driving education system, eventually many drivers only recognize auto -motion through the noise generated when the vehicle is on motion.

Unfortunately they are not aware of aerodynamics and parallel forces generated and what these forces are capable of doing especially at high speed.

This lack of understanding contributes to reckless driving and disaster on our highways.  If you think your driving skill is safe without the knowledge and understanding of auto -motion, better think twice.
